I recently returned to a family home for an at-home newborn photography session in Peckham, South London. I had first visited two years ago to photograph their first baby. This time, they welcomed me back to capture their newborn daughter. It felt incredibly special. Being trusted again with these moments is always a true privilege.
As soon as I arrived, I felt the same warmth and calm I remembered from our first session. Their son — once a baby in my lens — is now a lively, affectionate big brother. He was full of smiles and excitement.
While his sister was being fed and changed, I started the session with him. He was a joy to photograph. I captured some lovely moments, including a portrait that perfectly shows his excitement for the day.

Newborn Photography at Home in South London
Bringing my own backdrops and lighting allows me to create a consistent look that reflects my signature style. Every portrait has the polished feel of a studio session—without anyone needing to travel beyond the front room.
I use soft studio lighting to enhance the calm, clean aesthetic my clients know and love.
The portrait below captures a tender moment: Mum holding her newborn daughter while her son leans in for a gentle kiss.

Newborn Baby Photography – focusing on the star of the show
My newborn photography sessions follow a baby-led approach. I move seamlessly between family, parent, and sibling portraits, making sure to capture your baby’s special newborn shots at just the right moments.
I bring everything I need for at-home newborn photography sessions—whether you’re in Peckham, Dulwich, or anywhere nearby
This beautiful sleepy newborn pose is one of my favourites to create. I use a very soft newborn posing beanbag which I layer with my own selection of soft blankets. For baby, I’ve used a delicate handmade lilac outfit from the amazing KnitLandia props collection.
I provide all the newborn outfits for my sessions, each one is carefully selected for the quality and softness of the material. I have a mixture of colours and styles to choose from. Always keeping the look natural and authentic. It’s one less thing for families to think about ahead of their session with me.

Creating Variety for your newborn photography session
I love creating a variety of images during my newborn photography sessions. One of my favourite poses, which I’ve mentioned on previous blog posts, is the “tiger in the woods” pose.
For this pose, baby needs to be peacefully sleeping and comfortable on their tummy. I enjoy capturing this with Dad’s arm supporting the baby. A special bonus for this portrait was catching a gorgeous smile on baby’s face—right at the moment my shutter clicked!

Parent Portraits in a Newborn Session
I like to set aside extra time for special parent portraits, especially when the session includes not just the newborn but their older sibling too. It’s all about capturing their growing family.
Some of the most magical moments happen when children step in front of the camera—especially when Dad can lift them up as if they weigh nothing at all! This is one of my favourite shots.
A big kiss planted on Dads cheek just at the right moment!

Sibling and Newborn Photography at Home
It is always a joy to include beautiful sibling portraits. Depending on your children’s ages, I will use different approaches to create these images.
One of my favourite methods, ensures that your newborn is safe and comfortable. First of all, I will carefully position your baby on my newborn posing beanbag. I will ease baby into position and help them to stay calm and sleepy throughout this process.
With help from Mum and Dad, I will then encourage their older sibling to lean in for a gentle kiss or cuddle. This works especially well when siblings have a small age gap and the older child isn’t quite old enough to sit and hold the baby.
Another great option is when the older sibling can sit up and support the baby’s head confidently. In these cases, I often have Mum or Dad nearby, sometimes supporting the baby’s head with a hand, which I carefully remove in post-editing. For this session, Mum had purchased both of these lovely outfits for her children. I’m always happy to incorporate your own outfits and ideas into your photoshoot. I’ll provide guidance as to what will work well both during and before your newborn photography session.
Both posing options were used for the siblings during t this gorgeous newborn and family photoshoot and I love the results.
