Good morning All,
What a wet, cold and windy start to the week – oh and snowy! I’m tucked away in my editing suite this morning working on some of my recent portrait sessions and this image is so heart warming I thought it was the perfect one to share on a day like today!
Each time I visit a family for their newborn session I’m looking to create a visual record for them of this wonderful time, working around the baby and his/her pattern of sleep I like to capture mother & baby and father & baby portraits, as well as portraits of the new family together and beautiful sleeping poses of the new arrival on his/her own. If other member of the family are present such as Grandparents then I love to include them in the session – a portrait of three generations of one family is priceless as are the doting expressions on the new Grandparents faces!
I use a selection of soft hand made knitted items such as this lovely crochet scarf which was made for me by a Japanese lady – it is so delicate with a beautiful cobweb feel that it felt perfect for this family portrait taken at a newborn session in Islington.
Each portrait session is unique and the poses are based around what the new family feel comfortable with – more often than not the poses just happen naturally without my direction or input. I love the closeness of skin on skin portraits and this one is so tender and elegant.
Thank you to the lovely new parents for permission to share some of their portraits with you all!
