Following on from my pregnancy session post yesterday I’m pleased to introduce the gorgeous new arrival. Another amazing photography session with this lovely family. Proudly holding their newborn baby boy in their arms.

I love my parent portraits. A major part of my newborn, baby or family photography sessions. I feel it is important to capture pictures of parents with their children. These are the shots that their children will hold dearest as they grow up. It is after all these precious moments, cradled in your parents arms as a newborn that you will never tire of looking at. I often have parents shy away from the camera. Asking for pictures only of their baby. It is a natural feeling. Especially after you have just had your baby and are feeling a little sleep deprived. I am more than happy to do this and have done on many occasions. However, I also always gently encourage just a few family and parent shots. I know how loved these pictures will be by the children. The pictures are for them to cherish.

My style of black & white photography focusses on creating images that are flattering for all of the subjects. I am very sensitive to my Client’s and aim to create images that they will be proud of. Not just in the moment but in years to come. I think black & white photography is ageless in the way.

I always make sure that the studio is comfortable, safe and peaceful. This little one was just so dreamy to photograph, he literally slept through our portrait session. One of the most contented little babies I have come across so far!  I have been photographing newborns for years and have often been called ‘the baby whisperer’ which is a huge compliment. It comes with years of experience of handling newborns and babies. Posing a newborn is a huge responsibility, they are very tiny and fragile. Just adapting to life outside of the womb. It is important that you choose an experienced & professional photographer to capture your newborn portraits. All of my portraits are taken in a safe setting with a professional newborn studio that I will bring into your home. I am professionally trained and have photographed hundreds of newborns over the years.

I love working with newborns, it is one of the greatest joys of my work.

Another lovely pregnancy photography session in Canary Wharf London. I’ve been looking forward to sharing this one on my blog! Such a lovely couple. The double pregnancy and newborn portrait package was brought as a gift from husband to wife. I thought it was such a romantic and considerate thing to do. It is the perfect way to show you partner that you think they look beautiful right now.

The time together before your first baby is very intimate and caring. I love to try to capture that in my pregnancy session’s. Pregnancy photography sessions are an opportunity for a couple to share that moment in time. It gives you that space and time to take a moment to look forward to meeting your new baby. I always hope that the tenderness of this moment comes across in my portraits. The beauty of black and white photography is that it does eliminate all other distractions around the subject. Helping you to focus on the moment captured.

The first portrait in this series with them creating a subtle heart shape around her belly is one of my favourites. Dad was so amazing during the session.

I am always happy to chat to my Client’s about what they would like to achieve during their session. There are lots of lovely ideas for positions and poses on pinterest and it’s great to create a mood board and refer to these during the session. Equally I am very happy to take the lead and let the session happen naturally. This is often the preference for my Clients. Who like to put their trust in me to create the portraits they would like. I can tell personalities very early on and gently ease any feelings of anxiety before the session. By creating a relaxed environment with no pressure the results are truly natural and elegant.

A few weeks after our session their beautiful baby arrived and I was thrilled to return for their newborn photography session. I will share some of these in my next blog. I think it is lovely to show the before and after so that you can get a feel of my portrait sessions.

Today I’ve had a busy morning preparing for my packed weekend of photoshoots. A mixture of pregnancy, newborn, baby and family sessions this weekend.

Thank you for looking – as always, images shared with permission from my Clients.

Hi All,

What better way to start the Easter bank holiday weekend then with this gorgeous little one. Photographs from a recent newborn photography session in Clapham. The follow on to the last pregnancy pictures I posted. Meet their new arrival!

Isn’t he a perfect little button. The newborn stage is so fleeting that I love to capture them cradled on their parents arm. This week I returned to see one of my newborn Client’s and their baby is now 4 months old. We marvelled at her newborn pictures and how she had fitted the length of their arm with her head in neatly in their palm. Now a gorgeous bouncy baby and so robust. They had quite forgotten just how small she was. As a parent you spend so much time in the moment it is wonderful to look back and be reminded of how fragile they were.

Cuddled up with a tiny toy that is half the size of them but will soon fit in their hand. Cradling their tiny toes in the centre of your hands. Having their tiny fingers wrap around yours. All these precious moments that we will hold dear forever.

It gives me a great feeling of purpose to capture these moments. I know how much they will be treasured by their parents.

I hope you are all enjoying the start to the bank holiday weekend! We have the perfect weather for a change and so much happening in London. For the first time in years my family and I are staying in town and enjoying every moment. There is so much to see that we normally miss by being away. The Tall ships in Greenwich this weekend, meeting up with friends for picnics and egg rolling down telegraph hill! I’m so happy to have this special time with my family.

I also have some lovely newborns to photograph in-between my family time this Easter. I do love all the Spring arrivals. Yesterday I photographed a beautiful newborn baby boy in Bermondsey. Just 10 days old! It was so nice to see them all again. The last time I met them was for their pregnancy photography session. It was a pleasure to hear the story of their little ones arrival and to take his first pictures. Sharing in those first joyous moments with them all.

I’ll be adding some more pictures from this and other session’s very soon.

In the meantime wishing you all a very happy Easter in the sunshine!

It is so lovely to showcase these portraits from one of my recent pregnancy and newborn photography sessions. These pictures were taken in my Client’s home in Clapham, South West London.

Being pregnant for the first time is incredibly special. It is wonderful as a photographer to be asked to capture that moment. Without a doubt this is one of the most life changes experiences you will ever go through. Becoming a mother changes you completely and this is the moment just before your little one enters the world. I felt that my first pregnancy was a journey. I monitored every change week by week. Felt every move and worried about how I would feel when my baby was born. Just as every mother does. Pregnancy portraits really celebrate this entry into motherhood.

It is a time to enjoy your pregnancy and to show off your beautiful bump. I think there is no better way to create a lasting memory of this fleeting moment in time before motherhood.

My pregnancy photography sessions always take place at my Client’s homes. Allowing for complete privacy and intimacy. As well as mother to be portraits I like to encourage lots of partner portraits during the session. Hands on belly and beautiful side lit portraits complete the collection. These are special portraits and it is important that my client’s feel relaxed and comfortable. Being at home definitely helps plus not having to travel anywhere at this stage of pregnancy is definitely a plus.

I am pleased to report that they had a beautiful, healthy baby boy and I returned in the early weeks for their newborn photography session. I’ll be posting some of those beautiful shots soon.

There have been many photography sessions taking place behind the scenes these past few weeks. Lots of gorgeous easter newborns that I have been luck enough to photograph! I’ll be adding some of these soon!

I’m sharing one from this lovely pregnancy photoshoot in Hammersmith. One of my pregnancy and newborn portrait session’s. My all time favourite photography packages!

I am always chatting away to my Clients during their photoshoot. We talk about everything from our different pregnancy experiences to preparing for labour and what to expect when your baby arrives. I love hearing their stories and sharing my experience as a mother. It also means that we laugh a lot and I love it when I capture a natural relaxed smile like this.

This shot has a beautiful feel to it, I think she looks so happy and confident. I love black & white photography for so many reasons. Using my studio background at my clients homes removes distracting background so that you focus completely on the subject. The results are calm and romantic portraits that celebrate this incredible time. Lighting is also very important and I love to use soft, flattering studio light. I bring everything with me and adapt the set up to the space I am in. All London homes vary in size and space and I have learnt to create the perfect studio in the smallest and largest of rooms.

One of the key aspects for me is making sure everyone on the photoshoot feels comfortable and relaxed. Photography should be fun and it is a wonderful luxury to have professional shots taken in your home. By making sure that my Client’s don’t have to travel and can prepare for our photoshoot at home I know that they are in the most familiar setting for our session. I think this is important for pregnancy, newborn, baby and family photography sessions.

Pregnancy photography sessions always take place at between 32 – 36 weeks. These sessions are best booked as far in advance as possible. I usually recommend as soon as possible after your 20 week scan. For a full brochure you can contact me via the ‘make a booking’ page.
