Mother and Baby Photography Hampstead Heath

Just a little snuggle with Mum. I love my mother and baby photography sessions. Capturing natural portraits with your baby in the comfort of your own home. This little one was a tiny bit unsettled on the day but that didn’t affect the wonderful experience of our photoshoot or the beautiful results.
I am used to soothing babies and helping new mums during our photography session. As a newborn photographer and as a mother of two I have experience of working with babies and helping parents to feel at ease.
For this mother and baby portrait I loved how she had chosen a matching traditional dress for both herself and her baby boy. In fact her husband and her mother were also in complimentary traditional dress which looked stunning in the final portraits. This one I love in black & white but the others worked equally well in her chosen colour finish. I will definitely add one or two of these in my next post so that you can see the contrast.
I do both colour & black & white options for all images so that you can choose your favourite finish. This mother and baby portrait feels so timeless and I love how her gaze draws you into the picture.
I would love to meet you and your family. If you would like to chat to me about your photoshoot please contact me via my booking page
Once we have discussed what you would like we will book a convenient date for your photoshoot which will take place at your home. Mothers day in the UK is on Sunday 19th March and I’ve been thinking of the perfect gift to say thank you. There are often no words to express how you feel about someone but a picture as they say speaks a thousand words. To have a portrait session just for you with your baby, child or grandchild is a truly unique experience with the added value of a stunning picture to treasure forever.
I know this might sound “cliche” but it is true. There is nothing I treasure more greatly than the photographs with my mother and with my children. I know they will feel the same. I also feel that a professional family photoshoot offers more than the lasting photographs it produces. The day of the photoshoot itself provides a wonderful memory of an intimate time shared together. I love to create fun portraits that reflect the people I am photographing.
This is a special portrait to me as I have photographed this little girl since before she was born! To explain this more clearly I photographed her mothers pregnancy and then her newborn photographs followed by 6 month baby photographs and to this gorgeous shot at just over one year. Her grandmother has been there every step of the way and at every photoshoot I have done with them. Their bond is so strong and precious.
As is often the case with my toddler photography sessions, the photoshoot itself was very active. I arrived at their home in Brockley, South East London and set up my portable studio in a corner of their home.
We then did lots of playing and lots of singing! I know all the songs! With making the photoshoot fun and relaxed I find children naturally come into the studio area. I also love to take beautiful portraits with family members and there are always stages of the photoshoots when they are happy to be picked up and hugged. These are the moments I grab! For this one she was intrigued with a beautiful dried allium so this also became part of the photograph. Her mother is actually an incredible gardener. Their home and garden are filled with the most amazing plants I have ever seen. Making this a perfect addition to the photograph with her Grandmother.
A short post today as I am rushing around a little between photoshoots this week. I just had to share a beautiful black & white newborn photograph from a recent photoshoot in London.
There is such a pure and classic feel to black & white newborn photography. I love the simplicity of these images. The gentle way it draws you in with a feeling of calm and serenity. I have used a soft cream fabric backdrop for this newborn portrait along with delicate handmade angora shorts. Which I bring to all my newborn baby photoshoots in London, Kent and Surrey.
There is nothing to distract from the perfect details of the newborn baby. The only focus is the baby in the photograph which is exactly how I wanted the finished image to look. A baby portrait like this will look incredible enlarged and framed on the wall so that you can see all the beautiful little details. The soft fuzz of newborn baby hair that stands up on the top of her head, the little folds in her back, the tiny button nose and that little pouting mouth. It gives me sucha. great pleasure to capture these details for the new parents to treasure.
At each stage I will keep in touch with you to ensure your photography session runs smoothly.
A newborn photography session in Canary Wharf is always a treat. I have photographed many families in Canary Wharf over the years. For maternity portraits, newborn photography, family portraits, and older baby photoshoot sessions. The scale of the buildings is striking. Canary Wharf evolves and changes each time I visit. There is often something new that perhaps I haven’t seen before or has been added since my last visit.
I am treated to the best views during these sessions as many of the families I photograph have striking apartments with panoramic London views.I am sure I spend the first part of each photography session just gazing at the view.
As a London baby and family photographer I get to travel to all corners of this great city and beyond. I still get a thrill when driving over Tower Bridge or across the river to Westminster.
I’ve chosen a beautiful moment between a mother, her daughter, and her new grandchild for this post. I love the energy between them in this portrait. Their interaction, the fun between them, and their relationship in one photograph. I am so happy that they felt relaxed with me during the session which allowed me to capture such a special moment.
This is a question I am asked all the time. The answer is 100% yes!
To see three generations of one family in one portrait is a real gift. I believe that these photographs will be treasured for a lifetime and passed down through the generations of each family I photograph. I always think of the life of the photographs I’ve taken after I’ve taken them. Where will they be in the world? Which home?
As a London photographer, many of my Clients come from all corners of the world which of course means that often the Grandparents have travelled to be with their children and look after them during this special time. To be asked to capture this moment and the relationship between a family is a wonderful privilege.
