Baby photography – capturing the first Year
Photographing your baby throughout the first Year is a fantastic experience and the best way to create a lasting record of all those incredible milestones. From the first smiles to the first steps, I love to help curate a gallery of images throughout the first year that will record all of those changes for you.
My baby is three months, is this a good stage?
I am often contacted by parents when their baby is between 2-3 months old. They are usually worried that it’s too late for a newborn / young baby photoshoot and that they may have missed the newborn stage. I always advise that it is never too late for baby photography and that your baby will only be as they are at this moment in time once. In short there is no right or wrong time for baby photography. These photographs will be just as precious at three months as they would be at one or two months. All stages are beautiful.
At three months your baby will have started to give the most amazing smiles. I like to capture their emerging personality and the sweet little details of their features. It is also a time when you have all adapted to life as a family which often results in beautiful parent & family portraits to complement your baby images.
Working with my baby’s routine?
Before our photoshoot, I will discuss your baby’s routine with you. I am very flexible and will work around you and your baby on the day to ensure everything runs smoothly. If your baby has a nap schedule, I will arrange the best time of day for your photoshoot based on this and come to your home in plenty of time to set up and capture lots of beautiful moments with your baby.
Capturing their first Year in portraits.
I recommend formatting the first-year portraits with a newborn photography session (between 2-5 weeks), followed by a sitter session at around 6-8 months and then a one year old photoshoot. With your sessions spaced in this way, you will see and enjoy all the changes of your little one recorded in a stunning portrait gallery. With each photoshoot at your home I will create portraits in the same style to show the changes in your baby. These photographs look incredible displayed in my handmade gallery frames as a series throughout your home or in one of my very popular storyboard frames. Displaying nine of your favourite images in an iconic contact sheet style frame. My frames are contemporary and there are finishes to suit all interiors and homes.
Details of these are provided in my pricing guide when you contact me for further details. I recommend booking the first-year portrait experience if this is something you would like to achieve.
Do you include parent portraits?
Absolutely! Parent portraits are lovely for baby photoshoots, and I encourage parents to participate in each session. Parent portraits will celebrate your journey as a parent and capture you together at different stages. I love to capture mother & baby and father & baby moments during each session. These moments are always unique to each family and full of love.
