I’m loving my super soft fluffy backdrop throw for my baby sessions. This perfect baby boy was so happy in dreamland with his double pompom hat. Just too gorgeous not to capture at this private Newborn photography session in Chelsea.

He had gorgeous dark hair so I didn’t use too many hats during our session. Mum loved this one and I have to admit it looks adorable.

All of my props are handmade. I source them from many talented newborn prop makers and always ensure they are made with the softest wool. Newborn prop makers are experienced in producing items for photographers and everything is carefully selected for quality. There are lots which I use but you can also enjoy selecting many gorgeous things from Etsy. One of my favourite websites which I increasingly spend far too much time on!

During a newborn session I will use a selection of fabrics as back drops for the baby. The main family portraits are captured in my portable studio. The black backdrop creates a visually striking look which is flattering and timeless. I’m always happy with the results from these sessions and reminded why I still love the art of black & white photography.

It’s been a busy few weeks with shoots in Chelsea, Knightsbridge, Kensington & Marble Arch. Tomorrow I’ll be travelling to Islington for a baby portrait session. Tomorrow’s session is to celebrate another important milestone, the half birthday! I love my 6 month baby sessions as it’s one of the sweetest times to capture those gorgeous baby smiles.

Islington is also yet another of my favourite London spots which I always love to return to. After my session I hope to make time to pop into the very beautiful Union Chapel.  I was lucky enough to see the insanely talented Rodriguez (Sugarman) there a few years ago with my husband. An experience I will always remember.
